what is
belper youth council
Belper Youth Council was set up by Belper Town Council, as an opportunity for youth to contribute and express their views on Belper. This shadow council, gives the youth of belper the ability to be heard as well as the power to tackle issues within Belper. With the support and dedication of the Belper council members we, as the youth of belper, aim to contribute and improve Belper for the better .
OUR COUNCILLORS
Olly - Chairman
“I’m Olly Thompson, Chairman of the Youth Council. It’s a pleasure and honour to be so, but a serious responsibility too. It’s incredible to watch our ideas, and ones from those who we represent, turn into action. I look back to primary school, becoming a school councillor there, a title awarded by the mayor, to now being the Chairman of the Town’s Youth Council, working with the mayor. These opportunities have meant experience for me and, more importantly, representation for others. I’m sure my fellow councillors feel this way too. That’s why we’re creating new opportunities in our town for the youth of today and tomorrow.

Catherine
Hi, my name is Catherine and I am 11. I am VERY talkative and I love having things to do such as: colouring, playing games and doing gymnastics in my garden. My aims for the youth council would probably be: having more things for the 11+ side of the youth in belper to do like a youth council and more activities and festivals. I would also love to reduce the amount of waste on the streets and encourage people to do their role properly in the race to beat climate change.
